Update- the Patients,Surrogates,Staff and the Centre is fine.The Situation on the ground is improving ever so slowly!! Help is arriving in Huge Numbers from several quarters,from what i have heard from our Team on the ground is that people are simply too afraid to head into their homes because following the Quake there have been several Aftershocks ranging from 4 to 6 on the Richter Scale.
the hospital in Kathmandu has assured us that they are ready for any Obstetric and Paediatric Emergency!!
Kathmandu and Nepal will take time to heal!! They were never prepared for this kind of Earthquake.the Structural damage can be assessed and repaired and this might be a good time for them to correct the mistakes of the past and construct strong /Quake Resistant structures and not allow unauthorised constructions.
My worry is the Emotional and Mental scarring this will have on the people of Nepal.they depend heavily on Tourism and it will be difficult for them to get out of this if the Tourists decide to stay away,the good news is that this is unlikely to happen!!

After Shocks and more!!

As Many of you know we have a branch in NepalI(www.surrogacycenternepal.com)  as well which helps Infertile couples who cannot access Surrogacy and fertility treatments in India. A Lot of the Intended Parents,Well wishers have been writing and calling and wanting an update,i can understand the Anxiety where several of their Surrogate mothers are in the third Trimester of pregnancy.i will write to each one personally over the next few days but here is a general over view at this moment

The Kathmandu i so loved from the time i was a child(my first overseas vacation was a school trip to nepal in 9th grade) is no more!! the newer Structure have stood firm but a majority of the older historical structures have been reduced to rubble!!in a moment of nature's fury, Kathmandu lost pretty much all of its historical structures that the people of nepal and all over the world loved so much!!
thousands of people have lost their lives many have been buried alive!!the good news is that all our patients,their relatives,clinic staff is safe.
it is a challenging time for all of us,the Indian Government is doing it's best to help the people of Nepal. food,shelter ,clothing,Medicines have been dispatched in Millions by Air and Road and this will be the trend over the next few weeks if not month.Social service organisations like the RSS are doing their bit as well. the biggest challenge in the coming few weeks will be to prevent an outbreak of infectious diseases.
