The primary distinction between an IVF cycle and a
regular menstrual cycle is that ovulation is not allowed to happen during an
IVF cycle. Rather, the eggs are collected at the stage of maturity and
fertilized in an IVF lab to produce embryos.
However, a woman can ovulate before scheduled egg
retrieval as per the doctors of Kiran
infertility Centre – Hyderabad. Once the eggs are released into pelvic
cavity they can’t be extracted. This occurs due to some women experiencing
increasing progesterone levels on the day of egg retrieval or if there is a
delay in the egg retrieval procedure for any reason.
In such cases, IVF cycles are usually canceled.
