The
new Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill – 2020 cleared by Rajya Sabha as of December
8th, 2021 has shut the doors of surrogacy for members of the LGBT+ Community
and live-in couples. The bill soon to become an act has dashed hopes of
parenthood for the LGBT+ community and single men and women.
Dr.
Samit Sekhar – Director of Kiran Infertility Centre Pvt Ltd opines that this
bill is discriminatory towards single men and women who are dreaming of having
a baby through surrogacy and to those women who have been diagnosed with
conditions where they cannot carry a baby except through surrogacy.
