Assisted hatching or
AH is an ART method used in conjunction with conventional in vitro
fertilization (IVF) and/or Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). It involves
making small opening in the shell of the embryo so that the embryo has an
escape route to the implant.
It is observed that
assisted hatching may improve slightly the chances of clinical pregnancy in
women. Assisted hatching is usually carried out on day-5 of embryonic
development, it increases the chances of successful implantation.
