What do you mean by recurrent miscarriage treatment?

When a woman experiences three or more clinical pregnancy losses in a row, she is said to have a recurrent miscarriage, also known as recurrent pregnancy loss

To boost the chances of a healthy pregnancy, recurrent miscarriage treatments as per the doctors of Kiran Infertility Centre – Hyderabad can include lifestyle modifications, hormonal therapy, surgery, or genetic studies. Medical or surgical therapies for some diseases associated with recurrent miscarriage can reduce a woman's risk of miscarriage in the future.

A woman's chances of conceiving and carrying a full-term pregnancy are 60 to 80 percent following three miscarriages. Many women choose to try for a baby naturally, but in some cases, fertility experts may recommend infertility treatment to help lower the risk of recurrent loss.

The cause of most miscarriages is known to be genetics. When the embryo is genetically abnormal the pregnancy ends in a miscarriage. At KIC we offer in-house PGS testing to rule out the possibility of genetically abnormal embryo transfer.

What's the ideal number of eggs to freeze?

Women considering fertility preservation often ask us how many eggs they should freeze. The answer to this varies from women to women depending upon their individual conditions and the quality of their eggs.

If you have good quality eggs then preserving 5 or 6 would serve the purpose.

At each egg retrieval cycle, doctors try to get 10-15 eggs ideally. Doctors at Kiran Infertility Center advice that more is better so that you have enough eggs to be thawed and fertilized in future when you are ready to conceive.

.

In case if the individual's FSH and AMH levels are not healthy, it would not be possible to gather 10-15 eggs at a time, so it's advisable to repeat the process 2-3 times to have enough eggs for the future.

Upswing in EMI'S for IVF and Surrogacy Treatment in the Country

Every couple wants to experience the feeling of having a baby. The presence of a complete family is the most satisfying one. But few of them can't really reach that stage. This is not a rare problem but a huge  amount of people are facing the same issue. Nevertheless, this is even more burdened by a salary cut. These highly uncertain times have pushed the people to very narrow and stressed environments.

In these uncertain times, there is still a light of hope. Some infertility centre teaming up with some finance companies are showing their big hearts and offering interest free loans for IVF and surrogacy treatment. Loans range from Rs 2 lakhs to Rs 5 lakhs with repayment tenure of six months to 2 years.

"We jumped at the chance since we realized it could be our last one," said a Pune based artist. He has been provided a loan of Rs 2 lakhs by a private entity directly disbursed to the fertility centre and is given a duration of two years to clear the dues.

From last year's, there is been active participation of multiple financial companies in the market which has influenced a lot of people to take loans ranging from Rs 2 lakhs to Rs 15 lakhs with a repayment tenure of six months to five years.

Had it not been for the EMI option, we would never have been able to go through with the surrogacy procedure, which costs Rs 15 lakhs. I was financially drained from going through four or five IVF cycles, these are the words of Kishore who works for a private firm n Bangalore.

A sum of Rs 2.5 lakhs was paid by Kishore and remaining was financed through a Mumbai based firm.

This type of financial assistance not only helps at a monetary level but also helps the parents to live their life a little more.

“These opportunities, especially amid the Covid-19 crisis, have come as a boon for many. Couples who were left to choose between a fertility treatment and other expenses – either due to job loss or pay cuts – now have an option. The awareness that was missing is being addressed by centres like ours,” said Dr Samit Sekhar owner and director of KiranInfertility Centre, Hyderabad

Israel’s Homosexual Couples Granted Rights by High Court to Have Progeny via Surrogacy

The recent decision by the Israeli Supreme Court has created happiness amongst the homosexual couples. The decision grants the right to same sex couple to have children through surrogacy. It's a big win for the people as the decade long battle came to an end. This can be attributed as a major progress in the rights granted to LGBTQ community. The court ruled out in its decision that within a time period of six months all the curtailments in the surrogacy treatment of same sex couples and single fathers must be scrapped. The move was to grant the authorities some time to prepare for the same with a clear and straight objective.

One of the petitioners expressed his gratification by saying "We won and now it's final. ‘This is a big step for equality not only for LGBT in Israel but for everyone in Israel’ in his statement given to Times of Israel.

For single women and hetero couples there were no restrictions and were already free from this trap. Couples of the same sex were not included in the same.

This long battle of equality is not just a recent movement. It started a decade back in 2010 when a male sex couple moved to court for retracting the restrictions. Though they were unsuccessful at the first place but didn't lose the hope and again applied for the same in 2015 along with some LGBT rights groups.

In 2018, a law passed created a huge outrage as it enhance the eligibility for surrogacy to single women but didn't included the LGBTQ people.

In February 2020, Israeli high court made a statement saying that restrictions against gay couples disproportionately harmed the right to equality and right to parenthood of these groups and are illegal.

Though the statement was made in February 2020 and giving a time period of a year till March 2021 to consider the decision and change the law.

The last date however was changed and altered to September 2021, but according to Times of Israel the government has asked the court to reconsider the decision as revising the law in current political situation would be farfetched.

According to Agence France Presse since the Supreme Court ruling in the matter, some ultra orthodox law makers occluded a proposal which aims to enlarge the surrogacy access.

Israel is considered a figure head in the rights of LGBTQ rights across the Middle East. Same sex marriages performed overseas are considered by the state and individuals belonging to LGBTQ community are allowed to serve in military and the parliament openly. Though same sex couples can not marry in Israel and ultra orthodox communities and politicians are pugnacious towards the LGBTQ rights.

.

The Aguda, one of the Israeli LGBTQ rights group praised the court’s decision and stated it a historic milestone in the struggle for equality. The group also pointed out that there is still discrimination and inequality faced by the LGBTQ people in adoption and marriage rights.

What do you understand by artificial insemination in fertility treatment?

Artificialinsemination is a type of assisted reproduction in which washed and processed sperm is introduced in a woman's uterus. The method of intrauterine insemination is commonly utilized to treat a variety of reproductive problems.

According to the doctors of Kiran InfertilityCentre – Hyderabad, IUI is not to be mistaken with IVF, as the goal of IUI is for fertilization to occur spontaneously within the fallopian tubes. And not in the lab as in the case of IVF. After the procedure, the patient is not required to take rest and she can do all of her day to day activities.

Is freezing an embryo from a frozen oocyte (ova) is a good option?

Yes according to the embryologists of Kiran InfertilityCentre – Hyderabad, it is possible to vitrify the embryo as long as the embryo is of good quality, regardless of the origin of gametes used to produce it.

It is a reality that cryopreservation implies or results in certain amount of stress for gametes and embryos, just like any other procedure performed in an IVF laboratory. The techniques used in each case must therefore be assessed individually. Our specialized team is there to take care.

Augmenting Practice of Freezing Eggs in Women in View of Post Pandemic World.

Since the outbreak of the noval corona virus 2019, everything has been changed. People came to know about an entirely new perspective of living their lives. Everyone around the globe has felt something different in their own lives and have started working to either change it or enjoy it. People, who were staying alone in these tough times, have definitely gone through much more as compared to all of us.

Amongst these, a lot of women felt very lonely and started developing an urge to have their own babies. As we know being a mother can be the greatest feeling of all times. But they don't know about their future mates like when they will meet them and will their body be biologically acceptable at that time. So for the matter of fact, a lot of women have started to freeze their eggs in these post covid times.

Studies indicates that there has been an exponential increase in the women who are looking forward to freeze their eggs. These bleak and unpredictable times have been a good source of reset for everyone. Expenses have also been directed to different things rather than spending on travelling and other non-essentials

The main reason that can be attributed behind this exponential growth is women getting more time with themselves and able to explore what is really important to them in life and what is not. Many have started realizing the importance of family and their closed ones. The time which was spent alone made them feel more alone and empty than ever.

According to the study published by Monash group, there has been a 24% and 134% increase in Victoria and Queensland respectively amongst the women opting for freezing their eggs. A significant population opting for the same is in their 30s.

In younger women there has been a upswing in demand for freezing eggs from past two to three years as who could afford it financially acted to manage their own fertility.

Apart from all the financial and societal conditions, a major difference which is being observed is the cultural change which is quite observant. Earlier women in their late 30s started realizing this but now more women in their young age have started opting it and started talking about it in their workplaces.

Freezing cannot be a guarantee of successful pregnancy and a large number of eggs are required to increase their chances of success which could be slightly more expensive. Cycles cost around 2 lakh Rupees INR

What are the freezing methods used for embryo freezing

The primary goal of freezing embryos is to preserve them for future use. The embryo freezing is known as cryopreservation.

Cryopreservation-

Cryopreservation involves replacing the cell's water with a substance known as a cryoprotectant. The embryos left to incubate in increasing levels of cryoprotectant before being frozen.

The embryologists at Kiran Infertility Centre – Hyderabad then cool the embryo to its preservation state after removing water content. The embryologists use two freezing methods that include-

·       Slow Freezing –

Slow freezing entails placing the embryos in sealed tubes and gradually lowering the temperature of the embryos. It decreases the chance of harm to the embryo's cells by preventing them from aging.

·       Vitrification-

This process involves the embryologist freezing cryoprotected embryos soon enough so that the water molecules do not have time to form ice crystals. This protects the embryos and boosts their chances of survival when they are thawed.

Slow Freezing is more or less outdated and the best clinics across the world such as Kiran Infertility centre have now shifted to Vitrification techniques
