What are the freezing methods used for embryo freezing

The primary goal of freezing embryos is to preserve them for future use. The embryo freezing is known as cryopreservation.

Cryopreservation-

Cryopreservation involves replacing the cell's water with a substance known as a cryoprotectant. The embryos left to incubate in increasing levels of cryoprotectant before being frozen.

The embryologists at Kiran Infertility Centre – Hyderabad then cool the embryo to its preservation state after removing water content. The embryologists use two freezing methods that include-

·       Slow Freezing –

Slow freezing entails placing the embryos in sealed tubes and gradually lowering the temperature of the embryos. It decreases the chance of harm to the embryo's cells by preventing them from aging.

·       Vitrification-

This process involves the embryologist freezing cryoprotected embryos soon enough so that the water molecules do not have time to form ice crystals. This protects the embryos and boosts their chances of survival when they are thawed.

Slow Freezing is more or less outdated and the best clinics across the world such as Kiran Infertility centre have now shifted to Vitrification techniques
