Thin Endometrium- causes and treatment


 Uterus which is a vital organ of a female reproductive system needs to be healthy in order to carry the fetus properly and keep it nourished during pregnancy. 

 

The innermost part of the uterus known as the endometrium needs to be well supplied with blood for ensuring the safe pregnancy and keeping the fetus well nourished and healthy throughout the duration of pregnancy

 

Doctors look for an endometrium that is at least 7 mm in thickness for supporting pregnancy with a good quality- trilaminar as well as secretory . Anything less than that is known as thin endometrium which can affect fertility and pregnancy adversely. 

Causes associated with a thin endometrium include the following:-

 

1) Low quantity of estrogen

2) Reduced blood flow to the uterus

3) Fibroids in the endometrium

4) Menstrual disorders

5) Pelvic inflammatory disease

6) Adhesions in the uterus

7) Low quality of endometrial tissue

8) Prolonged use of birth control medication

9)infections such as Genital Tuberculosis.
